Your Role
An exciting opportunity exists to join the team at Catholic Education Office in the position of Accountant (School Support), to commence as soon as possible (as negotiated with the successful applicant.) This is a full time continuing position for 40 hours per week.
The successful applicant will demonstrate exceptional communication and engagement skills to support school and college stakeholders in managing financial responsibilities and supporting informed financial decision-making.
The role, based in Rockhampton, with some travel required, presents a wonderful opportunity for a suitably qualified accountant to support 39 schools and colleges across Catholic Education in all aspects of financial and management accounting and reporting. A significant focus of this role is ensuring financial compliance and risk mitigation across CEDR.
Typical duties include, but are not limited:
- Train, support and provide advice to finance officers/managers in schools and colleges with all aspects of financial management;
- Support end of month reconciliation, reporting and analysis processes;
- Support preparation and submission of school and college forecasts and budgets;
- Liaise with external auditors as required;
- Perform internal audit function for schools and colleges;
- Assist with ensuring Goods and Services Tax (GST) compliance in schools/colleges; and
- Perform other selected duties as directed by the Assistant Director: Business and Strategy and the Finance Manager.

Mandatory Requirements
- A current valid Blue Card under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (WWC Act) and valid Suitability Notice is a requirement of the position.
