About us
Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School Yeppoon has a clear Catholic identity with regular prayer and liturgical celebrations as well as the teaching of Religious Education. The school has a collaborative culture with year level teams of teachers planning together within the School Curriculum Framework. Specialist teachers provide lessons in PE and The Arts. The school offers significant opportunities for students to excel in sport and music.
Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School is extensively resourced with a court-size covered area, full size oval, modern play equipment, a performing arts area and a sacred site and labyrinth. The library is well resourced and ICTs are integrated across all learning areas. The school is located close to the Sacred Heart Church and Lammermoor Beach.
Your Role
We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and passionate educator for the position of First Nations Education Liaison Officer to join the team at Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, Yeppoon. This is a term time continuing position for 20hpw, for commencement on 27 January 2026.
This position is a School Based Education Liaison Officer role with an education component, supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in the classroom.
The First Nations Education Liaison Officer will service the educational mission of the Catholic Diocese of Rockhampton by providing support to all aspects of Indigenous Education. In doing so, advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students together with their families, communities, teachers and college.
Selection Criteria
The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate:
- A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and spiritualities.
- An ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, their families and school staff to improve educational outcomes through targeted and direct academic support.
