About us

Catherine McAuley College opened its doors in 2022, in order to meet the growing demand for a quality, Catholic Education in the Mackay region. Starting with pioneering Year 7’s in 2022, they will grow into a complete Years 7 to 12 profile by 2027.

Your Role

With the continued growth and expansion of the College, an exciting new opportunity exists to join the team at Catherine McAuley College, Mackay, in the newly established position of Media Officer. This is a term-time continuing role for 22.5 hours per week to commence from January 2026. Hours and days of work to be negotiated with the successful applicant. Based on the requirements of the role, the successful applicant will need to be able to work on Fridays. 

Typical duties include:-

  • Coordinate and produce school communications and publications, including newsletters, brochures, handbooks and promotional materials
  • Support media and publicity aspects of key school events such as open days, graduations, and sports carnivals. 
  • Maintain and update social media and website content in line with brand guidelines. 
  • Ensure consistent application of the College's brand across all communication channels.
  • Capture and promote significant school events through photography and video respecting media consent protocols. 
  • Liaise with local media outlets to promote the College and student achievements.
  • Contribute to marketing initiatives and provide branding and communications advice to staff and students.

Mandatory Requirements

  • A current valid Blue Card under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (WWC Act) and valid Suitability Notice is a requirement of the position.
