Through this involvement, students learn about giving back to the community and the importance of displaying respect and good manners. They also develop their confidence and communication skills.
Your Role
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and enthusiastic persons for the term-time position of Facilities Officer (Grounds person) for 25hpw, commencing February 2026 as negotiated with the successful applicant.
We are seeking applicants who will contribute to the effective and efficient operation and environment of the school through a high level of personal motivation and initiative in the ongoing maintenance, beautification, and development of the school’s facilities and grounds.
Reporting to the Principal, this role performs daily grounds and maintenance tasks including minor repairs and maintenance of school building and surrounds, gardening and grounds beautification and various other tasks as required.
About you
The successful applicant will have relevant experience and an understanding of, and a commitment to, the ethos of Catholic Education. In addition, you will have excellent time management skills and well developed interpersonal skills.
Typical Duties include but are not limited to:
- Securing grounds and equipment – keeping our school safe
- Mowing, trimming and fertilising lawns and turf areas
- Repairing and maintaining irrigation systems
- Weeding, planting and fertilising gardens
- Outdoor cleaning and use of high-pressure water cleaner
- Identify and assist with minor building maintenance – e.g., touch up painting and other minor repairs.
- Assembling, moving, and relocating furniture
- Assisting with the set-up of spaces for school events
- Gardening and general caretaking of school buildings and gardens
- Working with other grounds staff, as required
- Rubbish and waste management
- Working with, contractors to oversee major repairs and maintenance

Mandatory Requirements
- A current valid Blue Card under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (WWC Act) and valid Suitability Notice is a requirement of the position.
