Your Role

Applications are invited for the full-time position of Formation, Identity and Religious Education (FIARE) Consultant: Secondary to commence Term 2, 2026 or as negotiated with the successful applicant. This is a full time continuing position for 40 hours per week, based in Rockhampton. 

The successful applicant will work collaboratively with the Assistant Director: Mission and the FIARE Team at the Catholic Education Office to provide specialist consultancy, professional support, and delivery of initiatives across the diocese. 

The role presents an exciting opportunity to support the effective implementation of the CEDR Religious Education Curriculum across secondary schools through professional learning, quality resources, and collaborative analysis of student outcomes. This role involves providing specialist guidance on senior Religious Education pathways, QCAA requirements, and evidence-based pedagogical practices to enhance teaching and learning. 

The position requires strong capability in analysing and interpreting school and system-level data, alongside the design and facilitation of impactful professional learning and accreditation programs for educators. 

The successful applicant will cultivate strong professional relationships, contribute to strategic improvement initiatives, and actively collaborate with leaders, teachers, and external partners to support Religious Education across the diocese.

Typical duties include, but are not limited:

  • Support effective implementation of CEDR Religious Education Curriculum (Years 7-10) through professional development, resourcing and collaborative evaluation of student learning outcomes.
  • Provide specialist advice regarding senior schooling options in Religious Education, including curriculum pathways, QCAA requirements, resources, contemporary evidence-based approaches.
  • Assist leaders and teacher to enhance high quality learning and teaching in Religious Education by building underpinning content knowledge, insightful analysis of evidence of student learning, and support for responsive, high impact teaching strategies.
  • Support schools to understand their baseline data, track growth, and align this evidence with broader Catholic Identity goals. 
  • Design and facilitate professional learning for staff in CEDR schools and colleges.

About you

The successful applicant will have:

  • A strong understanding of and commitment to the mission and purpose of Catholic Education.
  • Expertise in Religious Education and deep familiarity of the CEDR Religious Education Curriculum, as informed by Church teaching, contemporary research and local policy.
  • Experience in secondary teaching and curriculum design, including familiarity with QCAA syllabuses and Quality Assurance processes.
  • A willing and capacity to deliver adult education and staff development. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational and time-management skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional learning and to fostering a vibrant Catholic identity within the diocese.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and current Queensland College of Teachers Registration
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
