Your Role

An opportunity exists to join the team at Catholic Education Office in the newly created position of Marketing and Communications Manager, to commence as soon as possible or as negotiated with the successful applicant. This is a full time continuing position, based in Rockhampton.

The role presents an opportunity to lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of collaborative, compelling, and effective marketing and communications strategies that support and showcase the presence and value of Catholic Education in the Diocese of Rockhampton. Key responsibilities include providing strategic leadership in integrated communications and marketing to promote the mission and Catholic Identity of Catholic education, drive enrolment growth and brand reputation, lead media relations and ensure effective team leadership, governance and operational excellence across all communications functions. 

Candidates must demonstrate proven experience in strategic communications and marketing, strong alignment with a commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education, exceptional leadership and stakeholder engagement capability, and a track record of delivering high-impact, data-informed communication outcomes in complex organisational environments. 

Typical duties include, but are not limited:

  • Articulate, reflect and promote the distinctive identity, purpose and mission of Catholic education as a ministry of the Catholic Church through integrated communications, marketing and stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Work closely with schools and services to develop innovative marketing and promotional activities to drive student enrolment growth, communicate a compelling value proposition, and enhance the mission, Catholic Identity and reputation of CEDR schools and services. 
  • Co-design messaging, narratives and engagement approaches with schools and services using evidence, data and performance insights. 
  • Provide expert leadership in media relations, including opportunity identification, media liaison, spokesperson preparation and coordinated responses. 
  • Lead issues management, crisis communication and reputational risk mitigation, including scenario planning, holding statements and strategic advisory support to senior leaders. 
  • Lead the design, execution and evaluation of integrated digital and traditional marketing campaigns that are aligned to the mission of Catholic Education and drive recruitment and enrolment, ensuring high-quality content creation of promotional materials and robust analysis of campaign effectiveness. 
  • Provide governance, oversight and optimisation of digital communications, including social media strategy, website standards, multimedia production and digital channel performance.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Industry experience in communications and stakeholder engagement at a middle to senior level.
  • Effective relationship building and influencing skills.

  • The ability to adapt and be flexible within a dynamic educational setting.
  • Degree level qualifications in communication and/or marketing or equivalent qualifications or specialised professional experience relevant to the role.

Mandatory Requirements

  • A current valid Blue Card under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (WWC Act) and valid Suitability Notice is a requirement of the position.
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Degree level qualifications in communication and/or marketing or equivalent qualifications or specialised professional experience relevant to the role. 
  • Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Education Diocese of Rockhampton. 
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
