Central Highlands Regional Council is currently recruiting for a Road Construction Advisor Inspector to join the infrastructure team.

In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring construction plans, procedures, and practices are implemented appropriately at council construction sites and provide guidance to project teams on the implementation and monitoring of the plans, procedures and practices. We are looking for an innovative problem solver who is committed to promoting a practical Safety-First culture and fostering collaborative work environments.

In this busy role, you will support the organisation by:

  • Optimising workforce methodologies to ensure cost-effective and resource effective project deliveries.
  • Advising on operational risks of construction methodologies, opportunities that could be explored and adequacy of resourcing of staff and plant.
  • Monitoring and enforcing the required standards, policies and procedures adopted by council.
  •  Ensuring safe work practices are adhered to in line with relevant legislative requirements, Transport and Main Roads procedures and council policies, abiding by the Workplace Health and Safety Act and Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
  • Monitor the resource utilisation efficiency for road construction projects and develop and implement plans to improve efficiencies where deficiencies are identified.
  • Applying comprehensive knowledge and experience of road construction practices and principles to road construction projects, contributing to systems reviews and continuous improvement of these processes and practices.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess:

  • Extensive experience in construction supervision in both urban and rural environments.
  • Experience in direct supervision of a construction team.
  • Knowledge of road construction environment.
  • Knowledge of road construction plant and equipment operations, specifications, and limitations.
  • Certificate IV in Construction Supervision
  • Minimum of Queensland C class provisional driver's licence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to working autonomously and within a diverse technical team environment.
