We have an exciting opportunity
an experienced HR Officer to join our amazing team at Central Highlands Regional Council!
The HR Officer will provide support to the Coordinator Human Resources to provide a high level of customer service and advice to stakeholders in regard to the organisational management system, research and preparing analytical reporting, assisting with industrial relations investigations, administration and providing advice in relation to employee support services. This role will also coordinate and oversee the general employee induction for new employees. 

In this busy role, your will support the organisation by:

  • Maintain council’s Technology One, One Council system and other council systems for the Human Resources team, keeping data up to date, filed appropriately, delivering reports as requested and ensuring the highest level of confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • Provide employees with advice and guidance in relation to their employment terms and conditions. Administer processes to ensure employees receive entitlements as per the certified agreement and applicable awards including corporate memberships, tool allowances, flexible working arrangements, changes to terms and conditions of employment, resignations, maternity leave and any other entitlements applicable.
  • Coordinate and oversee the general employee induction for new employees.
  • Take a continuous improvement approach to evaluate the effectiveness of human resource processes and Technology One system from a people perspective, implementing improvements where necessary to provide a high-quality experience for all internal and external customers, ensuring processes are documents and available for stakeholder and audit purposes. 
  • Maintaining a high level of professional engagement with internal and external customers, providing timely, accurate and consistent advice to support customer service excellence.
  • Support the human resources team in providing relevant analytics for the purposes of reporting. Assist coordination of human resource team projects e.g. position description reviews, annual performance appraisals, probation reviews. 
  • Provide assistance and support to the Senior HR Advisors in relation to industrial and employment related issues. Provide routine policy and procedural advice to all levels of council under the guidance of human resources leadership team.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess:

  • Minimum of Queensland C class provisional drivers licence.
  • Previous experience working in a human resource environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current employment and industrial relations legislation, relevant awards and industrial instruments e.g. certified agreements.
  • High level of diplomacy, confidentiality and customer service skills.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills. 
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Experience working within a HRIS 
  • Intermediate level competence in the Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
