We are currently recruiting Diesel Fitters to join our team. We have multiple roles available across multiple locations within the Central Highlands Region.

The Diesel Fitter will be responsible for delivering efficient and effective maintenance, repair and or servicing of council’s plant and fleet in line with industry best practice and standards.  
This includes both in the field and in workshop scheduled, reactive and or breakdown type maintenance, repairs or servicing of a diverse fleet of small, medium and large truck type fleet, construction type equipment, mowing and agricultural type equipment and associated equipment or attachments.
This role may be required to work anywhere within the Council boundaries, including callouts and work which may require an overnight stay in Council provided accommodation or camp
environments.

In this permanent role, there is scope for future career development, training and progression. There is overtime available however this is optional. 

To be considered for this position, you must possess:

  • Minimum of Queensland C class manual provisional drivers licence.
  • Trade qualified Diesel Fitter/Diesel Mechanic  
  • General Construction Induction Card (White) or ability to obtain prior to commencement
  • Competent in operating of various types of equipment i.e trucks, road trains, constructional type and agricultural type equipment to the purpose of test and function (or ability to obtain)
  • Working Safety at Heights (or ability to obtain)
  • Extensive experience in the repair, maintenance and servicing of a variety of heavy vehicles and plant and equipment.
  • Experience in diagnostic, repair or rebuilding of trucks, construction equipment and agricultural/mowing equipment.
  • Extensive experience in the use of diagnostic equipment for breakdown, fault diagnosis.
  • Extensive experience diagnosing and investigating faults and repairing or maintaining complex electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic circuits.
  • Relevant recent experience diagnosing and investigating faults, repairing, maintaining and servicing diesel engines, transmissions and drive trains.
  • Extensive experienced with both in field and workshop type breakdowns, repairs, maintenance and servicing.
  • Extensive experience working both autonomously and as an effective member of a team.
