Remuneration: Stream A, Level 6 -7: $103,745.14 - $118,511.00 + superannuation

Central Highlands Regional Council is currently seeking a Senior Compliance Officer to join the team based in Emerald. 
We are looking for an experienced officer who will be responsible for the coordination of investigations, assessments and response to compliance matters under consideration.  
In this role you will work closely with the Coordinator Development & Planning and use your existing compliance knowledge and skills to coordinate and undertake field work for inspections and compliance activities. 
Your technical expertise coupled with the ability to build professional and effective working relationships with staff and the public will be highly regarded.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess:

  • Degree qualification in Building, Compliance, Urban and Regional Planning or relevant discipline.
  • Pool Safety Certificate (or ability to obtain). 
  • General Construction Induction Card (or ability to obtain prior to commencement).
  • Minimum of Queensland C class provisional drivers licence.
  • Demonstrated experience in the enforcement of the provisions of the planning scheme, and relevant planning, plumbing and building legislation.
  • Significant experience in the coordination and investigation of compliance matters on behalf of a local government.
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of documentation, and capacity to act as a witness as necessary for enforcement action in the relevant courts.
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of reports and work logs, including documentation that may be required for legal proceedings.
  • Demonstrated experience to conduct investigations and inspections as required.
  • High-level experience in the development, implementation, review and monitoring of policies, practices and guidelines to achieve corporate goals.
  • Experience with the identification, preparation, implementation and monitoring of unit goals and objectives and developing strategies to ensure goals and objectives are achieved.
  • Management of service delivery to ensure a customer service-focused culture that is committed to Council’s values and priorities.
  • Demonstrated, high-level time management capabilities whilst handling multiple competing priorities that are sensitive in nature.
