Central Highlands Regional Council is seeking a reliable and eager-to-learn individual to join our Maintenance Rural team as a Civil Construction Apprentice. This is an exciting opportunity to gain full-time, paid work while working towards a Certificate III in Civil Construction (Plant Operations).
As an apprentice, you’ll gain practical skills and hands-on experience through on-the-job learning and formal training. To be considered for this opportunity, you will need:
- A willingness to learn and a positive, can-do attitude
- Sound written and verbal communication skills
- Teamwork skills and the ability to follow instructions in a hands-on environment
- An interest in working outdoors and learning to operate specialised machinery
- The ability to complete a Nationally Recognised Qualification (Certificate III in Civil Construction - Plant Operations) within 36 months
- Commitment to undertaking the requirements of the associated qualification
- Willingness to stay in camp accommodation outside of Emerald occasionally as required
- Availability to work a 9-day fortnight
- A minimum of a Queensland C class provisional driver’s licence (or be eligible and willing to obtain one within 2 years of commencement)
- A General Construction Induction Card (White Card), or willingness to obtain prior to commencement

To be eligible for this apprenticeship, you must:
- Be at least 15 years of age
- Meet citizen, residency, and visa requirements to undertake an apprenticeship
- Not hold a qualification equal to or higher than the apprenticeship qualification in the same field
