Central Highlands Regional Council is currently seeking a highly experienced Senior Ranger to join their well-developed team based in Emerald. This role involves day to day planning, supervising and monitoring of the rangers located in the Central Highlands Region along with providing assistance to the Coordinator Ranger Rural Services on a daily basis.
In this busy role, your daily activities will include:
- Assisting and completing detailed reports relating to Ranger Services
- Conducting patrols and carrying out inspections/investigations enforcing domestic animals and livestock legislation/local laws
- Investigation of Breaches to Local Laws and Statutory Provisions
- Issuing of infringement notices
- Recording and reporting of incidents
- Recommend legal action and providing evidence in court hearings
- Leading, supervising and mentoring a team
To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Ranger or Local Laws Officer (equivalent)
- Demonstrated supervision and leadership experience in local government or similar
- Proven experience in understanding legislation and case management
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills
- Minimum of Queensland C class provisional drivers’ licence
- Suitable qualification(s) in a relevant field (such as Natural Resource Management, Environmental Management, Animal Management or Rural Land Management) and/or demonstrated experience in a similar role.
- Local Government Worker and Authorised Persons training (in-house training provided upon commencement).
- ACDC statement of attainment and Commercial Operators Licence (or ability to obtain).
- Working with Children (Blue Card) (or ability to obtain prior to commencement).
