Central Highlands Regional Council is currently seeking Treatment Process Engineer to play a key role in delivering safe, compliant water and wastewater services by optimising treatment processes, supporting plant operations, and ensuring environmental and regulatory outcomes for the community.
In this busy role, your will support the organisation by:
- Provide technical expertise to optimise water and wastewater treatment processes, improve plant performance, support investigations and projects, and assist operations through data analysis, SOPs, and process improvements.
- Support compliance, operations, network, and engineering teams to meet drinking water and wastewater regulatory requirements, including incident response, regulator liaison, and trade waste advice.
- Investigate, report, and coordinate responses to water and wastewater non-compliances or operational performance issues, working closely with compliance and operations teams and escalating risks as required.
- Provide high-quality customer service with technical support and advice to customer enquiries related to water quality, trade waste or other issues relevant to the area of responsibility.
- Assist to develop and maintain a quality assurance program including safety and housekeeping procedures. Perform activities related to the effective maintenance and performance of analytical equipment used in water quality monitoring.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess:
- Degree qualifications in Engineering (Process, Chemical, or other relevant stream), Science (or related discipline) and/or substantial experience working in the water and/orwastewater treatment operational environment.
- Minimum of Queensland C class provisional drivers’ licence.
- High knowledge of statutory requirements and legislation relevant to water and wastewater treatment.
- High-level knowledge of the fundamentals of water and wastewater treatment processes and drinking water supply systems.
- Experience or knowledge of laboratory or field technical relevant to water quality analysis (e.g., microscopy, use of analytical equipment).
- Knowledge of design, operations and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment processes and associated infrastructure.
- Demonstrated ability to self-manage, plan and prioritise effectively and also the ability towork under limited supervision when required.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders ensuring the provision of quality customer service.
- Competent in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite with the ability to effectively operate (or the ability to learn) Council’s computer systems including Technology One, One Council, ECM and SCADA.
- Ability to work in an office and outdoor environment.
- Ability to be immunised against Hepatitis A&B and Tetanus.
- Sound knowledge of Workplace Health & Safety processes.
