Remuneration: Stream A, Level 3 - 5: $96,765.51 - $117,002.68 per annum inclusive of superannuation & locality allowance (5%increase from July 2026)

Central Highlands Regional Council is looking for an experienced Planning Compliance Officer to join our team and play an important role in supporting safe, compliant and sustainable development across the region.
In this role, you’ll take on a consultative and investigative position, working closely with residents, developers and internal teams to ensure development activities meet relevant legislation and council requirements. Your work will help protect the integrity of our planning framework while delivering fair and balanced outcomes for our community.
We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent people skills. You’ll be confident conducting compliance inspections, investigating concerns, and guiding stakeholders through the process while maintaining a professional and solutions-focused approach.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Experience working in local government or a similar compliance role within planning, local laws, building or plumbing

A Queensland C Class Provisional Driver’s Licence

Working knowledge of local government policies, procedures and legislation

The ability to conduct compliance inspections and follow through with appropriate enforcement actions

Strong emotional intelligence and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to mediate, negotiate and influence outcomes

A proven ability to engage positively with customers from diverse backgrounds

Strong written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear and comprehensive reports

Confidence using local government systems and technology
