Expression of Interest – Environmental Health Officer & Principal Environmental Health Officer

Are you passionate about protecting public health and enhancing environmental outcomes in your community? Local government is seeking expressions of interest from motivated and experienced professionals for upcoming opportunities as Environmental Health Officers (EHO) and Principal Environmental Health Officers.

These roles are integral to delivering high-quality environmental health services that safeguard the wellbeing of our communities. You will be involved in a diverse range of activities including food safety regulation, environmental monitoring, public health investigations, and compliance enforcement, while working collaboratively with businesses, stakeholders, and the wider community.

Environmental Health Officer (EHO)
As an Environmental Health Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards. You will conduct inspections, investigate complaints, assess public health risks, and provide education and guidance to promote safe and sustainable practices.

Principal Environmental Health Officer
As a Principal Environmental Health Officer, you will provide leadership and strategic direction to the environmental health team. You will oversee complex regulatory matters, mentor and support staff, contribute to policy development, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.

About You
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:

  • Qualifications in environmental health or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Sound judgement, analytical thinking, and problem-solving ability
  • A commitment to public health, safety, and environmental sustainability

For Principal roles, leadership experience and the ability to guide and develop high-performing teams will be highly regarded.
