About the Role
As Coordinator Strategic Sourcing, you will be responsible for the efficient and effective coordination of Council’s procurement, purchasing, contracting, and stores functions. You will play a key leadership role in developing a strategic, regionally coordinated procurement function that supports Council’s operational and community objectives.
Reporting to the Manager Procurement & Legal, this role provides expert guidance across the organisation, ensures legislative compliance, and builds procurement capability through leadership, systems improvement, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate Council’s procurement, purchasing, contracting, and stores functions
- Develop and implement procurement policies, guidelines, and internal controls
- Ensure compliance with the Local Government Act, Regulations, Australian Accounting Standards, and relevant taxation legislation
- Streamline procurement and contracting processes to improve efficiency and governance
- Ensure systems effectively support procurement policy and legislative compliance
- Build organisational capability through education, advice, and practical support
- Lead, motivate, and develop the procurement team to deliver service excellence
- Promote a culture of positive compliance and continuous improvement
- Actively contribute to workplace health and safety and Council’s values
About You
You are a confident and credible procurement professional with strong leadership capability and a collaborative approach. You bring a combination of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills.
Mandatory requirements include:
- Demonstrated extensive experience in procurement, tendering, and contract management
- Sound knowledge of statutory procurement and contracting requirements
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict management skills
- Highly developed written communication skills, including preparation of tenders and contracts
- Effective organisational and time management skills
- High level of competency in the Microsoft Office Suite
- Tertiary qualifications in procurement and supply chain management (or equivalent experience)
- Current Queensland C class (minimum provisional) driver licence
