Are you passionate about the development of employees through the delivery of effective training? We have a fantastic opportunity for you to join our Training and Development Team as a Supervisor!

Central Highland Regional Council is passionate about people and as a result has an exciting new opportunity for a Supervisor to join the Training and Development team in the new year!

This position reports to the Coordinator Training and Development and will provide supervision and support to the Corporate and Compliance Training and Development Officers and Trainee. This diverse role will also support the Coordinator Training and Development in consulting with stakeholders to identify learning needs in accordance with the organisation’s strategic and operational plans.

The successful applicant will have excellent people management skills, be results driven, highly organised and have an enthusiastic approach to delivering training throughout the organisation. You will also have exceptional attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to be adaptable to accommodate continuous changing priorities.

In this busy role, you will support the organisation by:

  • Leading a small team to deliver effective eLearning, online or in-person corporate and compliance training events, programs and initiatives.
  • Encourage and support the professional development of the team.
  • Provide responsive and effective customer service and stakeholder management.
  • Assist with the development and ongoing maintenance of council’s training needs analysis.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of council’s corporate and compliance training calendar including overseeing the scoping, coordination and delivery of training events and other initiatives.
  • Monitor and manage training records to ensure currency of skills is maintained and compliance is achieved.
  • Support the implementation of leadership development programs and individual development plans.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or significant experience in a training and development environment/role.
  • Minimum of Queensland C class provisional driver’s licence 
  • Intermediate skills in the use of the Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with training providers, instructors, subject-matter experts, employees and trainees in order to effectively deliver training objectives and learning outcomes for both the individual and the organisation 
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills to foster and maintain productive working relationships with senior managers, employees, key stakeholders and customers, including the ability to communicate, negotiate and work collaboratively across all levels and sectors within an organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage time, plan and set priorities and organise own work to achieve individual and department objectives within agreed timeframes.
