Central Highlands Regional Council is currently recruiting for a highly experienced Safety Team Leader to join their People, Safety & Legal team.

We are looking for a safety specialist, who enjoys working collaboratively with leaders and staff to foster a positive safety culture. This is a varied role that incorporates in field and office-based activities across all council facilities and work sites in the Central Highlands Region. This is an exciting time to join council as we embark on a Safety First Project which provide you with an opportunity to be part of a focus group to establish best practice standards to improve council’s overall safety management system.

In this role, you will support the organization by:

  • Leading and mentoring a team of safety advisors
  • Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with staff across the organisation to help develop their understanding of risks and reduce injuries in the workplace
  • Regularly conducting site visits and participating in toolbox meetings
  • Conducting risk assessments, incident investigations & safety observations
  • Ensuring that safety audits, inspections and investigations are conducted to a high standard
  • Providing work health and safety advice and legislation interpretation to the diverse CHRC organisation

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess:

  • Qualifications in Work Health & Safety or related discipline
  • Experience and understanding of Queensland’s Work Health & Safety Legislation and Codes of Practices
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Competency in a wide range of Microsoft programs
  • Qld C Class Drivers Licence
