Central Highlands Regional Council is focused on continuous improvement and investing in its people. As a result, we have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, driven professional to support Council's planning team on a maximum term arrangement to January 2026. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in understanding planning in our community and how this shapes the Central Highlands region.

The Para Planner will be responsible for assisting customers and the Development Assessment team in the provision of town planning responsibilities relating to development applications, pre-purchase property advice and searches and specialised administrative assistance. 

In this busy role, you will support the organisation by:

  • Delivering efficient and effective operations of the para-planning, administrative and customer service function for the unit in accordance with statutory legislation and Council's planning scheme. 
  • Providing professional and timely support in assisting with the delivery and management of projects, report writing, record keeping and correspondence.
  • Working collaboratively across the organisation, sharing knowledge and experiences.
  • Identification of potential opportunities for innovation and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of Council’s operations. 

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess:

  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality customer service to internal and external customers with an ability to evaluate customer needs and identify opportunities for service improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience and competency in a range of administrative duties and the ability to learn Council's corporate systems and the Planning & Development function.
