Central Highlands Regional Council is looking for a highly motivated, customer service centric Senior Library Officer.

As the successful applicant, you will have the ability to lead a group of diverse teams and bring a proactive and enthusiastic approach to the delivery of library services in order to provide a positive and welcoming environment for our community. 

In this busy role, you will support the organisation by:

  • Overseeing and evaluating the day-to-day operational delivery of library services and programs for the Blackwater, Capella, Emerald, and Springsure libraries and teams ensuring adherence to the Library Service Strategic Action Plan, guidelines, council procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Develop staff to assist them to deliver efficient and effective customer focused services.
  • Accurately analysing and reporting on library functions and issues to Library Coordinator.
  • Overseeing local history and heritage collections, activities and programs consistently across all branches of the library service.
  • Planning and implementing promotional and marketing activities consistently across all branches of the library service.
  • Supporting the Library Coordinator relationships with key stakeholders to ensure consistent region wide delivery of library functions, programs and services.
  • Provide accurate information and reference assistance to customers using public access catalogues, public access computers and library collections.
  • Conduct outreach sessions as required, including storytelling sessions, school visits, book clubs, library tours and/or computer classes. 
  • Working according to safe work procedures and undertake necessary training to ensure regulatory compliance is met and zero harm is achieved.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess:

  • Minimum Diploma in Library and Information Services with relevant proven experience; or other related qualification(s) and substantial experience in the delivery of library services.
  • Queensland Working with Children Blue Card, or ability to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Queensland C class provisional driver’s licence.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently and cooperatively in a team, with the ability to undertake operational and supervisory responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to be able to provide direction to staff as and when required.
  • Demonstrated ability in providing point-of-need services to internal and external customers with the ability to adapt to a range of existing and/or emerging technology platforms and delivery modes.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to work weekends as backup to rostered team members as required.
  • Ability to travel to all library locations as required.
