Central Highlands Regional Council is currently seeking a Project Officer - Funding and Subsidies who has the responsibility of effectively undertaking the administration of grants, subsidies and contributions as well as the initial investigation and recommendation of funding opportunities, increasing income for Central Highlands Regional Council from external sources.

The role is responsible for researching, identifying, coordinating the preparation and lodging of applications and submissions for external funding sources and opportunities that are relevant to council’s activities.

The Project Officer Funding and Subsidies will liaise with the Strategic Asset Management team, the Project Officer – Program Development and asset owners to identify future projects that may be eligible for external grant opportunities and ensure that successful grants are included in forecasting and budgeting documents.

In this busy role, you will support the organisation by:

  • Assist in the development, implementation and evaluate a comprehensive grant strategy to support council’s long and short term objectives, and to maximise grant revenue across the organisation.
  • The role is responsible for researching, identifying, coordinating the preparation of and lodging applications and submissions for external funding sources and opportunities that are relevant to council’s activities. The role will maintain systems and processes to ensure appropriate administration of successful grant projects is undertaken including reporting, financial and acquittal procedures.
  • Establish a reputation for reliance and trust across spectrum of stakeholders, including with various government departments relevant to funding opportunities. Work with business units and departments to improve awareness of grant applications and related processes and implement measures to improve information sharing and collaboration between staff.
  • Coordinate the loading / submission of applications and reporting requirements via the methodology identified in funding guidelines. Interpret and provide advice to stakeholders as to eligibility to projects and costs in line with funding guidelines.
  • Producing high standard reports, correspondence and advice to internal and external clients in a timely and comprehensive manner.
  • To actively participate in ongoing training and self-development to achieve continuous improvement for yourself and council.
  • Taking reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and others, complying with reasonable instruction and cooperating with CHRC policy and procedure per ‘Duties of a Worker’ contained in the Work Health and Safety Act as amended.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess:

  • Demonstrated experience in the administration of grant funding submissions, reporting and acquittals.
  • High level of experience in liaising with and providing advice to various internal and external stakeholders, council and others.
  • Demonstrated ability to gain the support and cooperation of others to achieve positive relationship building to deliver amicable outcomes for all parties.
  • High level oral and written communication skills including excellent negotiation, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills and the capacity to build and maintain positive relationships.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills including the capacity to perform effectively in diverse and complex political environments and to manage change. Competent use of full range of Microsoft programs.
  • Experience in utilising online grant funding platforms.
