Central Highlands Regional Council is committed to providing exceptional customer service to our community, as a result we have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Rates Officer to join our Emerald team. Part Time - School Hours will be considered for the right candidate!
In this position, you will work collaboratively with the high performing rates team to undertake rating activities and provide exceptional customer service to our community and stakeholders. You will be an escalation point within the team and also support the Coordinator with complex rating matters.
In this busy role, you will support the organisation by:
- Provide exceptional customer services to our community and stakeholders and act as a role model to the rates team.
- Be an escalation point for technical knowledge and expertise in the day to day functioning of the rates team
- Provide support to the Coordinator Rates and Revenue to review and monitor effective internal controls within the rates function to provide appropriate financial governance for council.
- Model best practice use of council’s property and rating module.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of procedures and guidelines relating to rating practices.
- Assist with the provision of information for council’s budgets and statutory reporting and undertake financial transactions, receipting and banking processes.
- Assist with the development of relevant reports that meet the needs of internal and external customers.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess:
- Demonstrated understanding of the application of local government legislation in relation to rating practices.
- Substantial experience in administrating and maintaining local government rating systems.
- High level knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with experience in the Technology One OneCouncil Property and Rating System or the ability to adapt and learn this software.
- Effective time management, task prioritisation and organisation skills, with the ability to meet stringent and competing timelines whilst meeting customer expectations.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively to influence outcomes.
- Highly developed customer service skills with the ability to resolve customer enquiries and disputes in relation to rating matters to achieve positive outcomes.
- Ability to work within a team, lead by example and provide support and guidance to create a collaborative and productive work environment
- Minimum of Queensland C class provisional driver’s licence.
