An exciting opportunity has become available to take on a leadership role within the Development and Planning team based in Emerald. We are looking for a highly skilled individual to take on the role of Coordinator Development and Planning who will lead, support and develop a small team whilst also using their technical expertise to work on a diverse range of applications.
We are looking for an individual whose experience has an emphasis on senior level town planning and ideally has worked in a local government environment.

In this role, you will support the Development and Planning team by:
- Leading, mentoring and supporting a multi-disciplinary team
- Reviewing delegated reports for development applications
- Overseeing enforcement matters including show cause & enforcement notices
- Providing legislative interpretation & advice across a number of Acts & Regulations relating to planning, plumbing and building
- Establishing and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships and providing exceptional customer service
To be considered for this opportunity, you will need:
- Degree qualification in Town Planning or equivalent discipline
- Certificate IV WHS or willing to undertake within 12 months of commencement
- High level computer literacy with experience with GIS, Microsoft Suite and Record Management programs
- QLD drivers’ license
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge and experience in interpreting and complying with relevant Planning, Building, Plumbing and Environment legislation.
- Demonstrated planning experience at a senior or principal level.
- Demonstrated ability to program, manage and deliver the active workloads of a planning unit
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate, develop and support a team of multi-disciplinary employees within a political environment to achieve required outcomes.
- Excellent report writing, presentation and networking skills, and the ability to coach a multi-disciplinary team to produce quality timely outputs.
- Demonstrated solutions focused outlook with a high desire to problem solve and create positive outcomes.
