Central Highlands Regional Council has an exciting opportunity for a motivated & creative Arts and Cultural Officer - Galleries to join the team in Emerald.
In this role you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of our galleries and providing a varied program of exhibitions and events spanning a wide range of disciplines and subject matter. 

This role is required to travel and attend gallery and community events/activities across the region which may be outside standard working hours, the successful applicant must be able to be flexible with their working hours.

This is a pivotal role within our community where you’ll be required to:

  • Coordinate and promote exhibitions, programs, activities and art awards in the Council’s galleries
  • Maintain council art collection including inventory control and conservation administration.
  • Develop strategy, action plans, policy and procedure that support delivery of Council’s arts, culture, history and heritage services.
  • Create links, maintain relationships and work with individuals and groups within the arts, cultural, history and heritage sectors to promote participatory activities
  • Assist with facilitating, implementing and reporting on regional and place-based community planning.

To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess:

  • Demonstrated experience in a community-facing role involving program delivery such as the arts, culture, history, heritage or related fields.
  • Demonstrated project management and event coordination skills, with the ability to plan and deliver community meetings, programs, events and initiatives.
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills, including proven ability to interact positively and build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and community.
  • High level written communication skills with the ability to write and present reports, social media content and other promotional material.
  • Experience in effective recording of statistics and monitoring of program budgets.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Queensland Working with Children Blue Card.
  • C Class Drivers Licence
