JOB SUMMARY:

Provides customer service to Recreation Complex users by answering enquiries, performing transactions, and processing registrations. Provides clerical support to administration staff.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides information to the general public
  • Performs cash transactions and balances the cash at the end of the shift; prepares bank deposits
  • Sells event tickets, transit passes, and various retail items
  • Processes admissions, ID cards, program registrations, and contracts
  • Provides clerical support for program and administration staff including typing, data entry, filing, graphic layout, spreadsheet design, and formatting
  • Processes routine facility bookings
  • Controls and monitors public access to facilities including sign-out and return of room keys
  • Re-stocks office supplies and retail items and maintains inventory
  • Attends crew safety talks and required safety training; follows safe work procedures; reports hazards, injuries, and near misses
  • Maintains professional and technical requirements for the position
  • Performs related duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School (Grade 12)
  • WHMIS Certificate
  • Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certificate
  • AED Training
  • World Host Certificate
  • Typing speed of 55 wpm
  • Knowledge of Recreation Complex operational policies including Emergency Procedures
  • Accredited training (3 months) in computer software and operating systems relevant to administrative support
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the City’s Recreation specific computer applications, administrative systems, and office technology as required
  • Ability to approach work and relationships in a culturally sensitive and inclusive manner

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 6 months' related experience
  • or an equivalent combination of experience and education

PAY RATE:

This is a union position with the current 2025 pay rate of $29.99 per hour as outlined in the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 798 Collective Agreement.

HOURS of WORK:

Varied schedule including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
