JOB SUMMARY:

Provides customer service to Recreation Complex users by answering enquiries, performing transactions and processing registrations. Provides clerical support to administration staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to approach work and relationships in a culturally sensitive, inclusive manner
  • Provides information to the general public
  • Performs cash transactions and balances the cash at the end of the shift; prepares bank deposits
  • Sells event tickets, transit passes and various retail items
  • Processes admissions, ID cards, program registrations, and contracts
  • Provides clerical support for program and administration staff including typing, data entry, filing, graphic layout, spreadsheet design and formatting
  • Processes routine facility bookings
  • Controls and monitors public access to facilities including sign-out and return of room keys
  • Re-stocks office supplies and retail items and maintains inventory
  • Acts as the designated first aid attendant for the Recreation Complex; administers first aid treatment to staff in accordance with Intermediate First Aid Certification standards
  • Documents incidents, and maintains accurate first aid records
  • Attends crew safety talks and required safety training; follows safe work procedures; reports hazards, injuries and near misses
  • Maintains professional and technical requirements for the position
  • Performs related duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School (Grade 12)
  • W.H.M.I.S. Certificate
  • Intermediate First Aid Certification
  • A.E.D Training
  • Ability to use a computer and standard office software with proficient keyboarding skills to complete routine administrative tasks
  • Minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute
  • Accredited training (3 months) in computer software and operating systems relevant to administrative support
  • Up to date knowledge of the City’s Recreation specific computer applications, administrative systems and office technology as required
  • Knowledge of Recreation Complex operational policies including Emergency Procedures

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 6 months experience
  • Or an equivalent combination of experience and education

PAY RATE:

This is a union position with the current pay rate of $29.99 per hour as outlined in the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 798 Collective Agreement.

HOURS of WORK:

Varied schedule including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
