City of Newcastle (CN) is looking for an experienced and inspirational Marketing Manager to oversee a multi-disciplinary team of marketing and creative service professionals, including digital marketing and CN’s in house graphic design section.

The position provides sound marketing knowledge and advice into overarching marketing plans with a focus on meeting strategic and business objectives, relating to CN facilities and services.  The successful candidate will have the ability to initiate, interpret and apply customer insights to enhance the customer experience and meet objectives (both engagement and financial), measure return on investment and identify new opportunities.

This role champions CN’s new corporate brand strategy and will work with a broad range of stakeholders across facilities and services to continue implementation of the new brand.

The successful person will manage and coordinate work through an internal graphic design service, which is operated using an agency model, and shape and deliver CN’s digital marketing strategy to grow CN’s profile and share of voice on social media

As a leader, the financial responsibility, management and accountability of budgets and agency relationships is paramount to the success of the person in this role, as is overseeing measurement and tracking within analytics for all marketing channels through definition of goals and conversion.

It also manages contracts with agencies and suppliers within governance and policy frameworks.  The role will also provide leadership and strategic direction to support the 2018-2021 City Engagement and Marketing Strategy.

To be successful in this job you will have:

Essential

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or related qualification, and/or demonstrated capacity through past employment experience.
  • Advanced level experience in communication, media, writing skills and public relations. Strong flexible writing skills with the ability to comprehend complex information and distil it into simple terms, positioned to suit different audiences and communications channels to achieve maximum information uptake.
  • Core knowledge of all facets of the digital marketing mix.
  • Ability to drive integration of offline and online as well as emerging digital/social platforms and technologies.
  • Extensive experience with a variety of digital platforms, social media and strong content creation techniques.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, as well as sound influencing and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a professional team across multiple disciplines to deliver operational aspects including financial, human resource and logistical arrangements within planned budgets, scope, quality and time constraints.
  • Project management skills including the ability to develop concepts, campaign strategies and budget management to deliver agreed results.
  • Ability to work outside of regular work hours.

Desirable

  • Ability to be agile and adaptable in a changing environment.
  • Proven experience leading people through change.
  • A mix of local government and commercial experience.
