City of Newcastle (CN) is seeking a Property Officer – Assets to support the Property Services team in delivering high quality services to internal and external customers in the areas of property management, leasing and asset management, particularly in relation to road assets.
Reporting to Asset Management Coordinator - Property, you will manage the small-scale acquisition and disposal of the City’s assets, and will project manage the granting and releasing of licences, consents and leases for the City’s property assets, particularly road assets – including, but not limited to, easements, right of carriage ways, subdivisions and road widening.
Additional responsibilities include management of the City’s Land Register, conducting investigations of land to determine history and property rights, and procurement and contract management of consultants and developing business process maps and procedures for core functions.

To be successful in this job you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications and / or minimum 5 years’ experience in property, land management, conveyancing, surveying or related discipline.
- Demonstrated high level of capability and experience in consultation and conflict resolution / problem solving with a range of stakeholders including the community, internal business units, external businesses and government departments
- Demonstrated experience in the interpretation of property related documents – including, but not limited to, survey plans, deposited plans, easement instruments, cadastral, design and engineering plans; and lease, licence, deed and legal agreements.
- Well-developed time management, organisation, and communication skills.
- A high level of computer literacy, particularly with GIS software and MS Office).
- A current NSW Driver’s Licence.
- A demonstrated working knowledge of local government and property-related legislation (highly desirable).
