City of Newcastle (CN) is currently seeking Pool Attendants to support our Beresfield Swimming Centre for the upcoming summer season and beyond.

As a Pool Attendant you’ll provide risk minimisation strategies for centre users through effective surveillance, rescue and first aid management procedures. You’ll also maintain the centre in a clean, tidy and safe condition and will deliver high level customer service to centre users/community members.

The essentials you’ll need:

  • Hold current Pool Lifeguard Certificate.
  • Hold current awards; Bronze Medallion, Advanced Resuscitation and Senior First Aid.
  • Working with Children Check.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Availability to work weekends, school holidays and public holidays.
  • Ability to work without supervision.
  • Ability for work at short notice.
  • Proven ability to provide excellent customer service and liaison skills.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with staff and customers.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Be able to complete a competency assessment including: 200m swim, manual handling requirements at each swimming centre, dive and retrieval of an object from the deepest pool of the swimming centre.
  • Knowledge of WHS requirements relevant to the position.

Other valuable skills you may have:

  • Ability to embrace change in the work environment.
  • Experience in swimming centre operations and cleaning requirements or equivalent.
  • Ability to promote the image of City of Newcastle through effective and courteous performance of duties and professional presentation of self.

Remuneration: Fixed-term, $60,010.37 + 9.5% Superannuation per annum for a 38-hour week (actual renumeration will vary dependent on hours worked). Casual, $37.82 + 9.5% Superannuation per hour.
