  • Several full-time temporary roles available for up to 12months duration, rostered 7 hour shifts between 8am-5pm weekdays.

The City of Newcastle (CN) Customer Service Centre provides a ‘one stop shop’ for all general enquiries.  We are seeking dynamic, passionate customer-focused team members to be our primary point of contact.  In this role there are varied work duties available across contact centre, front of house, administration and digital functions.

The key duties of these roles:

  • Respond to and resolve a variety of enquiries from the public, efficiently providing information and solutions.
  • Communicate accurate information such as policies and procedures.
  • Assess and register information lodged for Council applications
  • Perform cashiering functions.
  • Assist visitors to the City Administration Centre.

The essentials you’ll need;

  • Certificate III or above in a business or customer related qualification and/or equivalent experience in customer service delivery within a high-volume omni-channel contact centre environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and exemplary personal presentation.
  • Strong customer centric focus and ability to practise empathy
  • Sound negotiation, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience prioritising multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Comprehensive computer literacy.
  • Highly flexible across diverse work tasks and able to work independently and cooperatively in a team environment
  • Quick learner and highly adaptable to changes in processes and technology

Other valuable skills you may have;

  • Knowledge of Local Government’s role, functions and responsibilities.
  • Skills in interpreting plans, reading maps and understand technical issues.
  • Accurate cash handling, payment processing and balancing / end of day reconciliation skills.
  • Experience with customer enquiries via social media and web chat.

Remuneration: $68,415 + 9.5% Superannuation per annum for a 35 hour week.
