City of Newcastle (CN) is seeking experienced Mechanic to join our Workshop Team based at our Waratah Depot site. This role isn’t just about tools and tasks, it's about shaping your city. Your expertise will help deliver the essential services and safe, functional spaces that make our community liveable, inclusive and thriving.

The following opportunity is available:

  • Permanent afternoon shift (between 1pm and 9.06pm), or
  • Rotating shifts (day shift between 7am - 3.06pm and afternoon shift between 1pm - 9.06pm)

In this role, you’ll be responsible for servicing and maintaining CN’s diverse fleet, including garbage trucks, mobile and fixed plant, light vehicles, and NHVAS-accredited heavy fleet. You’ll work collaboratively to complete inspections and repairs within set timeframes, ensuring compliance with OEM standards and NSW/Australian accreditation requirements.

You’ll also provide maintenance advice, support team communication through toolbox talks and meetings, complete required documentation, and deliver excellent customer service at the service reception desk.

Remuneration: $82,981.04 + 17.5% annual leave loading yearly payment + 11.5% Superannuation per annum for a 38-hour week plus:

  • Fortnightly Tool allowance of $74.44
  • Working Conditions allowance of $17.26 per fortnight
  • $25.68 per day shift allowance
