Plant Operator - Maintenance

Job No: CN4452
Location: Newcastle

  • Are you keen to further develop your civil construction & maintenance experience?
  • A great opportunity for an experienced slope mower / tractor operator
  • Full time role, 38-hour week

City of Newcastle (CN) is looking for a Plant Operator to support our Civil Construction & Maintenance service unit, comprising 180+ civil construction professionals who work hard to deliver City Wide Maintenance and our Capital Works Program for the benefit of the community.

As a member of our team, you won't just work for the city; you’ll co-create it. Here, your ideas and efforts directly shape the places where you and your community live, work, and play.

As the successful candidate, you’ll ensure the safe, efficient, and productive operation of allocated plant and motor vehicles, including conducting routine servicing, safety checks, and arranging mechanical repairs as required. You’ll play a key role in keeping our projects moving and our city growing. Through your work, you’ll have a behind the scenes pass to Newcastle's evolution as you help shape our future as a liveable, inclusive city.

You will also contribute to the efficient and effective maintenance of CN's vegetation and drainage assets using accumulated personal skills and knowledge to ensure that the required quality of workmanship and productivity is attained. As a member of our team, your hands on work in the field directly supports Newcastle’s transformation into a cleaner, greener, and more resilient city.

Some of the sites we maintain are adjacent to main roads where works are required during off peak times, so periodic night work may be required. Whether it’s day or night, you’ll be part of a team that takes pride in delivering high-impact work that keeps Newcastle moving forward.
