ABOUT US

Our core values - Accountability, Communication, Effective Leadership, Integrity and Teamwork (ACE IT) represent who we are as an organisation. They are the agreed guiding principles for how we carry out our duties and interact with our community.

Our brand new Early Learning Centre (ELC) has been architecturally designed specifically to exceed best practice industry standards, which opened in October 2024, with the licensed capacity to accommodate up to 88 children.

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, kind, and caring Centre Cook to prepare nutritious and delicious meals and snacks for the children in our care.

Candidates will be qualified in commercial cookery or have previous experience cooking in an early learning setting. We are looking for a team player who brings their best selves to work and build positive relationships with the children and families to create a safe, fun, inviting, and nurturing learning environment.

To ensure the efficient operation of the long day care service, we encourage applications from candidates who also possess a formal qualification in early childhood education and care. The primary focus of this role will be planning, preparing and serving healthy, well-balanced, attractive meals and snacks for children aged 6 months to 6 years, with the added flexibility to provide ad-hoc leave coverage for educators in the service as required.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Cobar Shire Council is committed to the safety and well-being of children and young people. All applicants will undergo thorough background checks, including Working with Children Checks, and must comply with our child protection policies to ensure a safe environment for all.

This part time position offers an hourly rate from $28.25 - $32.70 under Council's salary system, dependent on qualifications and experience, with employment terms and conditions in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award, working approximately 20-25 hours a week.
