Council owns and operates the Cobar Shire & TAFE Library, Great Cobar Museum and Visitor Information Centre, Lilliane Brady Village (residential aged care facility), Children's Services, Youth & Community Centre as well as works depots in Cobar and Euabalong.

Our new Early Learning Centre (ELC) was architecturally designed specifically to exceed best practice industry standards, which opened in October 2024, with the licensed capacity to accommodate up to 88 children.
ABOUT YOU
We are seeking a passionate, experienced, and inspiring leader to manage our long day care service. You will be committed to delivering safe, supportive, and high-quality education and care for our children, while fostering strong partnerships with families, staff, and the wider community.
To succeed in this role, you will bring:

A degree in Early Childhood Education (or equivalent) and previous experience in a leadership role within a long day care or children’s services setting.

Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate, support, and mentor a team across multiple services.

In-depth knowledge of the National Quality Framework, Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations, and a strong commitment to continuous improvement.

Organisational, financial management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance compliance and service delivery.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a collaborative and professional approach to decision making.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Early Learning Centre Coordinator, you will manage the daily operations of our long day care service and oversee our outside of school hours care (COOSH) coordinator. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance, maintaining high quality education and care, leading and mentoring staff, and driving continuous improvement to meet and exceed quality standards.
The ELC program is child centered and is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework. Each child’s current knowledge, strengths, ideas, culture, abilities, and interests are the core of our program. Our indoor-outdoor program provides children with the opportunity to engage in quality learning experiences with all age groups. The educational team believes in the importance of older children scaffolding younger children’s learning. These opportunities allow children to act as leaders which develops creativity, empathy and kindness.
Through our play-based program and strong reciprocal relationships, our educational team have developed a transition to school program which focuses on developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills, resilience, social confidence, creativity and independent learning and agency. These are the values and practices that guides the attitudes and behaviours of all educators.
Your role will include:

Acting as the Nominated Supervisor and, when required, the Educational Leader.

Leading and supporting staff to deliver child-focused, inclusive, and high-quality programs.
- Managing budgets, resources, service utilisation, and reporting responsibilities.

Building strong, positive relationships with children, families, staff, and the wider community.

CONDITIONS & BENEFITS

Full-time role, 35 hours per week, working a 9-day fortnight.

Salary negotiable (dependent on skills and experience), in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award, plus applicable allowances.
