Council owns and operates the Cobar Shire & TAFE Library, Great Cobar Museum and Visitor Information Centre, Lilliane Brady Village (residential aged care facility), Children's Services, Youth & Community Centre as well as works depots in Cobar and Euabalong.

The Cobar Early Learning Centre is the only long day care service in Cobar. Our brand new, achitecurally designed building was opened in October 2024 and has been allowed us to offer a significant number of additional placements for families within our community, but there is still a strong demand, so we need to keep growing - and to do that, we need to grow our team. 

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking experienced, enthusiastic, kind, and caring Lead Educator to deliver outstanding education and care for the children at our long daycare service. 

Candidates will need to posses an Early Childhood Teaching degree or Diploma Early Childhood Education and Care, with a minimum of two years previous experience in a room leader role, ideally in the under two years age group. You will need to be passionate about early childhood education and play based learning, with a commitment to bringing that learning to life through programs that inspire the children in our care to reach their full potential. We are looking for team leader who brings their best selves to work and builds positive relationships with the children and families to create a safe, fun, inviting, and nurturing learning environment.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are currnetly recruiting for a Lead Educator in our Infants Room (ages 0-2 years) to commence in January 2027.

Reporting to the ELC Coordinator, our Lead Educators are responsible for developing and implementing an innovative play based learning program, documenting the children's learning journey, and ensuring the room operates efficiently and in accordance with the required standards, legislation, and regulations. An important element of this role will also be leading and mentoring a team of educators, and fostering a collaborative working environment that drives and supports continuous improvement. 

Cobar Shire Council is committed to child safe recruitment and the paramountcy of children's safety and well-being. All applicants will undergo background checks, including working with children checks, reference checking, and must comply with our child protection policies to ensure a safe environment for all. 

This position offers an entry salary of $73,000 for Diploma qualified educators, and up to $88,000 for ECT level qualifications, with employment terms and conditions in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award, working 38 hours a week, accruing one rostered day off (RDO) each month.

For experienced and suitably qualified candidates, Council will consider VISA sponsorship under our existing Orana DAMA Labour Agreement.
