  About the team

The Coordinator of Infrastructure Projects sits in the Community Facilities and Open Space Delivery Business Unit and will collaborate with 5 other Coordinators, the Program Manager and Business Unit Manager. This leadership group oversees a team of 40 project delivery staff and is one of 4 delivery teams in the Infrastructure Delivery Branch. Our purpose is to safely deliver high-quality, value-for-money projects, empower our people to lead and grow, and drive a team approach across our department which is built on culture and the right behaviours. We deliver a broad range of open space infrastructure projects and community facilities such as new parklands, community centres, sports fields and waste management infrastructure.

About the role 

As Coordinator of Infrastructure Projects, you will lead a high-performing team and oversee project management services to deliver the capital works program efficiently, on time, and in alignment with the City’s organisational objectives.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating project management and delivery of defined projects for the financial year, including forward planning projects, design only projects and construction projects.
  • Assisting project planners with the development of four-year capital expenditure programs and defined projects for the forthcoming financial year, ensuring effective and efficient project delivery.
  • Providing project and financial reports on program and project status to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Ensuring that project delivery adheres to the project management methodology (Project delivery governance process) and department procedures.
  • Ensuring that the provisions of all relevant legislation, regulations, agreements, standards, best practice and policies are applied and adhered to in projects.
  • Contributing to the operation and continuous improvement of the Business Unit, mentoring and developing the capability of staff, and investing in ongoing personal and professional development to drive culture and the right behaviours.
  • Supporting the branch leadership team with the development and communication of Council’s Corporate and Operational Plans.
  • Building collaborative working relationships across the organisation and maintaining appropriate networks with internal stakeholders, external organisations and other levels of government. 

We’re looking for people who have: 

  • Diploma Project Management and/or equivalent experience.
  • Diploma Leadership and Management and/or equivalent experience.
  • C Class Driver's Licence.
  • General Construction White Card.
  • Modern leadership skills, the ability to implement changes, and skills to develop people to achieve their personal and organisational goals.
  • The ability to motivate team members, build momentum, and continually assess and manage performance.
  • The ability to drive outcomes and be innovative in a fast-paced and complex environment.
  • The ability to bring in new ideas, challenge the status quo, and implement continuous business improvements.
  • A positive and pragmatic attitude, demonstrate the right behaviours regardless of the situation, and who will not deviate from building good culture.
