About the role
The Coordinator Safety & Wellbeing (S&W) Governance is a senior leadership role within the City’s Safety & Wellbeing Branch, accountable for the oversight and effective operation of the City’s Safety & Wellbeing governance framework. The role is responsible for managing and continuously improving the Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements, alignment with industry standards, and effective performance monitoring.
The Coordinator S&W Governance brings strong knowledge of management systems, governance frameworks, and contemporary safety and wellbeing practices. Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, the role drives continuous improvement and embeds safety and wellbeing as a core element of the City’s culture and business strategy.

We’re looking for people who have:
- Bachelor Degree in Work Health and Safety or equivalent and relevant experience
- Certificate IV in Leadership and Management or equivalent and relevant experience
- Driver Licence Class C Car
- Proven professional experience in coordinating, developing, and implementing effective safety management systems to achieve quality outcomes through consultation.
- Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of current Queensland Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation and its practical application.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of the workforce, with a strong emphasis on consultation, negotiation, influencing, and conflict resolution to effectively address organisational issues and respond to evolving organisational needs.
