About the team

The Water Meter Renewal Team operates within Utilities Network Delivery under Infrastructure Gold Coast as a specialist function responsible for the planned renewal, testing, and replacement of water meters. Led by a dedicated Coordinator and supported by specialist technical and delivery resources, the team delivers a risk‑based program to maintain meter accuracy, legislative compliance, customer confidence, and revenue protection. The team works collaboratively with asset management, network operations, customer service, and external partners to deliver key programs including planned renewals, priority replacements, cohort testing, and large meter rebuilds.

About the role 

As the Coordinator Water Metering, you will lead and manage the City’s water metering program, overseeing the entire meter lifecycle from procurement and replacement to smart meter implementation, data exchange, and customer engagement. You will provide strong operational leadership and technical expertise, ensuring effective delivery, regulatory compliance, and high standards of service

Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee planning and delivery of metering initiatives from installation to digital integration
  • Act as the technical lead for metering matters, supporting internal teams and external partners
  • Coordinate program schedules, funding allocation, and performance tracking
  • Address and resolve complex usage discrepancies and escalated customer matters
  • Provide informed input into policy, compliance, and industry requirements
  • Establish clear operational guidelines to ensure safe, consistent practices
  • Identify and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and service outcomes

We’re looking for people who have: 

  • Bachelor degree of Business, Engineering or equivalent and relevant experience
  • Cert IV Leadership and Management or equivalent and relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in water metering, utilities, infrastructure, or a related technical environment
  • Sound understanding of relevant legislation, regulatory frameworks, and industry standards
  • Experience managing complex technical investigations and sensitive customer matters
  • Highly developed analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills, providing clear direction while fostering collaboration
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands
