About the team
The Engineering, Design and Standards Branch is responsible for infrastructure engineering, design, survey, specifications, asset standards, electrical infrastructure and contributed assets across all customer and community facing infrastructure classes.
About the role
Responsibilities Include:
- Ensure assets accepted by the City meet the design specification and comply with the SEQ Code and other relevant guidelines and standards.
- Conduct random audits and inspections to ensure compliance with relevant standards and that work is being undertaken safely.
- Assist the Compliance Engineers with assessing sewer and water Non-Standard Connection applications.
- Attend all inspections between prestart and off maintenance including hold and witness points, when issues arise on site, and random audit inspections especially during pipe laying works.
- Identify construction issues on site and liaise with the Compliance Engineers to rectify any design and conflict issues.
- Identify any safety issues during construction and take appropriate action to ensure rectification.
- Assist the Compliance Engineers with the review of QA and as constructed data.
- Work with the Compliance Engineers and Network Operations to arrange network shutdowns as required for live works.
- Coordinate with Compliance officers when non-compliances and illegal works are identified.
- Investigate and manage defects and damage to the City’s infrastructure during the On-Maintenance period.
- Attend witness and hold point inspections associated with trunk sewer and water infrastructure as required.
- Conduct operations within the relevant internal policies, business plans, regulatory and legislative requirements.
- Perform any other duties as directed from time to time within the competency of the role.
- Undertake inspections of sub-meters to determine accuracy for billing purposes.
- Undertake inspections of development solid waste requirements in accordance with the conditions of approval.
- Substantiate, investigate and resolve complaints, disputes and service requests and report results including action plans to rectify non-compliance.
We’re looking for people who have:
- Certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision or equivalent and relevant experience in the construction of sewer and water assets
- Drivers Licence C Car
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- A high level of attention to detail and commitment to quality and compliance
- The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment
- A proactive approach to safety and risk management on construction sites
