About the team
The Chief Procurement Office plays a vital role in supporting the City’s operational and strategic objectives through effective procurement and sourcing practices. The team partners with internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality procurement solutions that ensure value for money, strong governance and sustainable outcomes for the City.
Working across portfolios including infrastructure, ICT, services and goods for our community, this collaborative and high-performing team provides strategic sourcing expertise across a diverse portfolio of projects and categories, supporting the delivery of critical infrastructure, essential services and strong community outcomes.
About the role
As a Sourcing Lead, you will provide expert procurement advice and lead strategic sourcing activities across a range of complex and high-value procurement projects. You will manage end-to-end sourcing processes, support business units through the procurement lifecycle and mentor procurement professionals to deliver best practice outcomes.
Working within the Chief Procurement Office, you will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure procurement activities align with corporate objectives, policies and governance requirements.
Responsibilities include:
• Drive category planning and delivery of strategic sourcing initiatives
• Lead complex end-to-end procurement and tender processes
• Develop tender documentation and lead evaluations and negotiations
• Provide expert procurement advisory services and category expertise
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers
• Conduct market research and analysis to inform sourcing strategies
• Review procurement documentation and recommendations to ensure compliance
• Support procurement planning and pipeline development
• Lead, coach and mentor sourcing team members, fostering growth and collaboration
• Maintain accurate procurement and contract records in corporate systems (SAP, Ready Contracts, Objective)

We’re looking for people who have:
• Degree in Business or equivalent qualification and relevant experience
• Strong experience managing complex procurement and sourcing activities
• Demonstrated experience leading end-to-end tender and contract processes
• Ability to provide strategic procurement advice in a challenging budget environment
• Experience mentoring, coaching or supporting procurement professionals
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
• Excellent analytical, planning and problem-solving abilities
• High-level written communication skills and attention to detail
• Commitment to ensuring accuracy and compliance of procurement data and documentation
