  • Provide expert advice to improve departmental governance and business practices in line with organisational objectives.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, resource planning and decision-making aligned to department priorities and outcomes.
  • Research, prepare and critically review reports, briefings, correspondence and presentations for executive consideration.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across the organisation to support collaboration, influence outcomes and enable effective delivery.
  • Model the city’s high-performance principles and actively contribute to a culture of safety, wellbeing, care and respect in the workplace.

We’re looking for people who have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business or equivalent experience.
  • Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, capable of delivering clear, consistent and reliable advice at an executive level.
  • Advanced analytical, investigative and problem‑solving abilities, with sound judgement when handling complex and sensitive situations.
  • Experience tracking and influencing performance, developing plans and systems, and providing senior expertise to executives, preferably in a government and political context.
  • Demonstrated success in overseeing the creation of high‑quality reports and documents that meet organisational strategy and governance standards.
  • Skill in foreseeing challenges, juggling multiple priorities and thriving in a dynamic executive setting.
  • Proven ability to influence, negotiate and foster trusted relationships with senior stakeholders.
