About the team
Engineering Design and Standards is the City of Gold Coast’s in-house engineering design team. We develop practical, safe and constructable design solutions for the City’s capital works program, including roads, footpaths, carparks, drainage and other urban infrastructure.
This is a senior design role for someone who wants to take ownership of civil design delivery and see their work progress from concept through to construction.
About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to coordinate and deliver civil infrastructure designs across the Gold Coast.
You’ll work under limited direction of the Senior Certifying Engineer and will help manage design tasks from concept through to Issued for Construction. This includes preparing and reviewing design documentation, coordinating design inputs, supporting Safety in Design, resolving technical issues and working closely with project managers, asset custodians, construction teams, consultants and contractors.
This role will suit someone who is technically strong, organised, practical and confident working with others to keep design delivery moving.
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinate civil design delivery from concept through to issued for Construction
- Develop project-specific design scopes, schedules and budgets
- Prepare and review civil designs, calculations, reports, estimates, specifications and drawing packages
- Coordinate civil, stormwater, utilities and other design inputs
- Support Safety in Design and help manage key design risks
- Resolve design constraints, constructability issues and technical risks
- Track and report on design progress, risks and deliverables
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers, graduates, designers and drafters
- Support improvements to design templates, workflows and delivery practices
We’re looking for people who have:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent recognised qualification
- Proven experience in civil infrastructure design and/or delivery
- Experience working on projects from concept through to detailed design or IFC
- Technical capability across roads, footpaths, carparks, drainage, pavements or related urban infrastructure
- Good design review skills across quality, compliance, risk and constructability
- Sound engineering judgement and practical problem-solving ability
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities, risks, budgets and timeframes
- Current C class driver licence
