About the team
The City of Gold Coast Infrastructure Program Management Office (IPMO) supports the Infrastructure Gold Coast (IGC) Department in the delivery of the City’s municipal infrastructure portfolio. The IPMO Branch comprises five key streams: Cost Intelligence, Project Controls, Commercial Management, Portfolio Management, and Governance and Assurance.
The Governance and Assurance Team provides oversight, controls, reporting, and independent assurance across the IGC portfolio to help ensure infrastructure projects and capital programs are strategically aligned, financially responsible, compliant, and successfully delivered. The team consists of five professionals who support the Department through governance, assurance, reporting, and continuous improvement activities.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced governance professional to drive best-practice oversight, assurance, and continuous improvement across major infrastructure initiatives. This role plays a critical part in strengthening governance capability, improving project and program transparency, and supporting confident, well-informed decision-making at both program and departmental levels. Working within a dynamic and collaborative environment, you will influence strategic outcomes while ensuring governance processes remain effective, consistent, and fit for purpose.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead governance and assurance activities across infrastructure programs and projects
- Provide strategic advice and independent oversight to support informed decision-making
- Manage and coordinate governance review processes, including Gate reviews and approvals
- Ensure project documentation, reporting, and submissions meet organisational standards and requirements
- Monitor governance outcomes, actions, and recommendations to support timely resolution and compliance
- Drive continuous improvement of governance frameworks, policies, and assurance practices
- Support and guide project teams in the consistent application of governance processes and standards
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support effective program delivery
We’re looking for people who have:
- A bachelor’s degree in business or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
- Experience in governance, assurance, program management, or infrastructure delivery environments
- Confidence in leading teams and influencing stakeholders at all levels
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret complex information
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and consultative approach
- The ability to balance strategic priorities with operational detail in a fast-paced environment
- A proactive and adaptable mindset, with a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes
- A passion for continuous improvement, strong governance practices, and organisational success
