Please Note. The salary range is $138,896 - $177,976 per annum plus superannuation and leave loading. The salary range is commensurate with working a 10-day fortnight and may include a negotiable attraction and retention payment that is determined based on your qualifications, skills and experience and is subject to annual reviews.
About the role
Engineering Design and Standards is seeking a Principal Engineer to provide senior technical and line leadership within the Civil and Stormwater team.
The role supports civil, stormwater and utilities-related infrastructure design across the City’s capital works program, including technical review, RPEQ certification, utilities coordination, service clash resolution, Safety in Design and construction support.
Key responsibilities
- Provide senior technical and line leadership across civil, stormwater and utilities-related infrastructure projects
- Lead, support and mentor engineers and technical staff
- Review, verify and certify engineering designs, reports, specifications and drawing packages as RPEQ
- Coordinate design delivery from concept through to IFC and construction support
- Provide principal-level advice on civil design, stormwater, drainage, utilities interfaces, constructability and design risk
- Coordinate utilities-related design inputs and service clash resolution
- Support project scopes, schedules, budgets, resourcing and workload planning
- Drive Safety in Design and support continuous improvement in design delivery
We’re looking for people who have:
- Extensive experience in civil and/or stormwater infrastructure delivery
- Experience reviewing, verifying and certifying civil and/or stormwater engineering designs
- Strong technical capability in stormwater, drainage, civil infrastructure, utilities interfaces, constructability and design risk
- Experience leading or supervising engineers and technical staff
- Sound judgement, strong stakeholder coordination skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
