About the role

This Full-Time opportunity plays a pivotal role within Enterprise Portfolio Management, driving enterprise-wide portfolio insights, strategic analysis, and decision support to help optimise the City’s portfolio of programs and projects.

This role is central to shaping how strategic investments are prioritised, governed and delivered, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and community outcomes. Working across a dynamic portfolio environment, the Senior Portfolio Analyst provides visibility of performance, risks, dependencies and delivery health, enabling informed decision-making at all levels of the organisation.

The position also leads the ongoing enhancement of portfolio management frameworks, processes and tools, supporting continuous improvement and strengthening the organisation’s portfolio management maturity and capability.

This is a 9-day fortnight, Full Time opportunity. 

Duties for the will include (but not limited to)

  • Identify and report strategic portfolio-level risks, assumptions, issues and interdependencies.
  • Define and manage the development of portfolio-level analysis, reporting and dashboards.
  • Provide analysis and advice to facilitate the appropriate management of cross-portfolio risks, issues, dependencies and changes.
  • Develop and maintain within the Portfolio, Program and Project Management (P3M) framework a process for the definition of portfolios.
  • Ensure that portfolio prioritisation tools are developed and maintained to support the portfolio prioritisation process.
  • Provide advice regarding the P3M portfolio definition process to support the portfolio prioritisation process and development of portfolio plans.
  • Develop and maintain an Enterprise Portfolio Delivery Plan.
  • Develop and maintain the elements of the Project Program and Portfolio Management (P3M) framework that relate to portfolio management.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring on enterprise portfolio tools, and provide input to tool specifications to reflect P3M standards

We’re looking for people who have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Project/Program Management or similar or equivalent industry experience
  • Ideally 3-5 years demonstrated experience in portfolio, program and project management (P3M) environments, with strong capability in governance, prioritisation, reporting and strategic portfolio oversight
  • Highly developed analytical and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to provide trusted advice and influence decision-making at Executive and senior leadership levels
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with proven experience managing competing priorities, resource planning, risk oversight and continuous improvement initiatives.

Good to have:

  • PRINCE2® Project Management Practitioner or equivalent
  • Managing Successful Programs (MSP®) Practitioner or equivalent
  • Portfolio, Programme and Project Offices (P3O®) Practitioner or equivalent
