Looking for a hands-on role where no two days are the same? Join the City of Gold Coast’s Fleet team as a Yardsperson and play an important role in keeping our depots safe, organised, and operating efficiently.

About the role
As a Yardsperson, you’ll help maintain the day-to-day operations of the Carrara Depot and surrounding sites by supporting depot upkeep, vehicle and equipment movements, basic gardening, and general maintenance activities. You’ll work closely with depot staff to ensure our facilities, fleet, and storage areas remain safe, secure, and well-presented.
What you’ll be doing:
- Maintaining clean, safe, and tidy depot environments across Carrara, CityLink, and other locations
- Assisting with the movement and upkeep of Council fleet vehicles, plant, and equipment
- Supporting the safe storage and organisation of materials and equipment
- Carrying out basic gardening and general maintenance tasks
- Identifying and reporting safety hazards and security risks
- Assisting depot staff with operational support activities
- Participating in WHS inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments
We’re looking for people who have:
- A reliable and proactive team player with a strong work ethic
- Someone who enjoys hands-on, practical work and working outdoors
- A strong focus on workplace safety and maintaining clean, organised environments
- Ability to identify hazards and report maintenance or safety concerns
- Good communication skills and willingness to support depot staff and operations
- Ability to work independently and manage day-to-day tasks effectively
- Experience in general maintenance, yard work, gardening, or operational environments is desirable
- A commitment to contributing positively to the team and broader community
