About the team
The Community Facilities and Open Space Asset Planning and Management business unit manages a diverse network of City assets across beaches, lakes and waterways, sport and recreation and green infrastructure within the broader open space estate. The team is responsible for asset management planning, condition assessment, lifecycle planning and renewal prioritisation to support long-term service outcomes. Working across built and natural assets such as parklands, foreshores and waterway interfaces, applying consistent asset management practices to guide planning, investment decisions, asset management and support delivery.
About the role
As a Sport and Recreation Asset Officer within the Sport and Recreation Assets team, you will play a key role in supporting the effective lifecycle management of the City’s sport and recreation assets, including sports fields, sports facility lighting, recreational facilities and sport-specific infrastructure.
The role will assist the team in strategic asset planning, maintenance programming, and ensuring facilities remain safe, compliant, and aligned with community and sporting body expectations. It strengthens collaboration with service managers and enhances responsiveness to community and stakeholder needs. This position is essential to maintaining service levels, supporting population growth, and ensuring the City continues to deliver high-quality, fit-for-purpose sport and recreation facilities that meet community expectations and enable event attraction.
We’re looking for people who have:
- A passion for sport and want to make a real contribution to enhance the Gold Coast way of life
- Bachelor Degree relevant to sport, recreation, project and/ or asset management and a combination of experience, expertise and knowledge
- Unrestricted C Class Drivers Licence (Mandatory)
- Demonstrated experience in infrastructure asset management and project management in a sport and recreation environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- High attention to detail
