As part of the Enterprise Data & Analytics Platform team, you'll help shape the City's modern data landscape by supporting the platforms that underpin enterprise reporting, analytics and data-driven decision making. Working alongside specialists across Azure, data engineering, governance and analytics, you'll contribute to delivering secure, scalable and trusted data services that enable better outcomes across the organisation.

About the role 

As the Platform Administrator, you will be responsible for the administration, optimisation and ongoing evolution of the City's Microsoft Fabric environment.

You will ensure the platform remains secure, scalable, reliable and fit for purpose while supporting the organisation's growing data and analytics capabilities. Working closely with our Azure Administrators, Purview Administrator, Data Engineering Team, and respective Data Analytics teams you will help deliver a modern enterprise platform that enables trusted, self-service analytics and data-driven decision-making across the City.

In this role, you will:

  • Administer and support the City's Microsoft Fabric platform, including capacities, workspaces, OneLake, data warehouses, lakehouses, pipelines and Power BI services.
  • Manage tenant settings, platform configuration, access controls and security settings in alignment with organisational standards and policies.
  • Monitor platform health, utilisation, performance and capacity consumption, identifying opportunities for optimisation and continuous improvement.
  • Support the implementation, adoption and operational management of new Microsoft Fabric capabilities and platform enhancements.
  • Develop and maintain platform standards, operational procedures, technical documentation and support processes.
  • Partner with Azure Administrators to ensure effective integration, security, networking and operational management across the broader cloud environment.
  • Collaborate with our Purview Administrator to support enterprise data governance outcomes and ensure alignment between platform capabilities and governance requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and operational support to business and technology teams using the platform.
  • Work with vendors and internal stakeholders to manage incidents, service improvements and platform roadmap initiatives.
  • Promote best-practice use of Microsoft Fabric and Power BI across the organisation

We’re looking for people who have: 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Demonstrated experience administering enterprise-scale Microsoft data, analytics or cloud platforms.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric administration, including workspace management, capacity management, security and tenant administration.
  • Working knowledge of Power BI administration and enterprise analytics platforms.
  • Strong understanding of cloud platform operations, security, governance and service management principles.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across technical disciplines, including Azure, security, architecture and data governance teams.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and problem-solving skills.


Required / Desirable certifications (or equivalent knowledge/experience):

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) 
  • Microsoft Certified: Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600).
  • Microsoft Certified: Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer Associate (DP-700).
  • Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300).
