About the team
The Sustainability, Heritage and Compliance branch plays a key role in protecting and enhancing the Gold Coast’s natural environment while supporting the delivery of critical infrastructure for our growing city. Working closely with project teams and stakeholders across the organisation, the team provides expert environmental advice that balances environmental outcomes with the delivery of essential community assets.
About the role
We're looking for an Environmental Management Adviser to provide specialist environmental advice and support across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects and maintenance activities. From transport and stormwater projects to coastal assets, vegetation management and natural area restoration, you'll help ensure projects are delivered in accordance with environmental legislation, corporate standards and industry best practice.
In this varied role, you'll:
- Provide environmental advice and peer reviews across the planning, design and delivery phases of infrastructure projects.
- Support environmental compliance and continual improvement initiatives across Infrastructure Gold Coast.
- Provide environmental planning advice and operational support relating to arboriculture and vegetation management.
- Coordinate the planning, design and approvals of landscape and vegetation elements including turf, gardens, street trees and restoration projects.
- Manage tree work requests and contractor engagements using City processes.
- Undertake site inspections, audits and compliance reviews to ensure works meet statutory and corporate requirements.
- Monitor changes in environmental legislation and industry best practice and contribute to maintaining environmental management systems and procedures.
We’re looking for people who have:
You are an environmental professional who enjoys working collaboratively and influencing positive project outcomes. You have sound knowledge of environmental compliance principles and can confidently provide practical advice to a range of stakeholders.
To be successful, you'll bring:
- Experience in environmental management, environmental planning, vegetation management, arboriculture or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of environmental legislation, compliance requirements and industry best practice.
- Experience working on infrastructure, construction, maintenance or environmental projects.
- Strong analytical, auditing and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to balance environmental outcomes with operational needs.
- An unrestricted Class C Driver Licence and White/Blue Construction Card
