About the role
Are you an experienced technical professional with a passion for delivering high-quality infrastructure projects that create lasting benefits for the community? We are seeking skilled and motivated Senior Technical Officers to provide technical leadership, engineering expertise, and quality assurance across a diverse portfolio of civil construction projects.
In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the successful delivery of major infrastructure works by providing specialist technical advice, practical engineering solutions, and project oversight throughout all stages of construction. Working collaboratively with project teams, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders, you will help drive safe, efficient, and innovative project outcomes while ensuring compliance with Council standards, legislative requirements, and industry best practice.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide technical leadership, engineering advice, and quality assurance across civil construction projects.
- Support safe and efficient project delivery through risk management, site inspections, and quality control activities.
- Develop and manage project documentation, including risk assessments, inspection and test plans, environmental plans, and traffic management plans.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to project teams, construction staff, and key stakeholders.
- Support project procurement, contract administration, cost control, forecasting, and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with Council policies, legislation, safety requirements, and industry standards.

We’re looking for people who have:
- Bachelor Degree of Engineering or equivalent and relevant experience
- A current C Class Driver’s Licence
- General Construction White Card
- Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills across diverse project environments.
- Experience in engineering design review, technical report assessment, and constructability analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in project or site engineering, including estimating, specification development, tender preparation, and contract management.
- The ability to critically analyse engineering information, make informed decisions, undertake forward planning, and deliver practical constructability solutions.
- Experience managing project budgets, financial reporting, cost control, and monitoring financial performance.
- Strong problem-solving skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work collaboratively.
- A commitment to contributing positively to team success and achieving quality project outcomes.
